Going 9,000 miles in a balloon might be something for the movies, but that doesn’t make hot air balloon rides any less fun! Soaring up above the world with only hot air keeping you up is a great experience and can even make a great science lesson. However, if you plan to go up into hot air balloons in Arizona, then there are a few things you should know so your ride is a good one.
First, try to keep still and don’t monkey around. The basket will not only rock with the wind, but also with your movements. If you cause the basket to start shaking and swaying around, then things could get dangerous really fast. Keep your movements soft and be sure to stay out of the instructor’s way as they are operating the balloon.
Second, stay near the middle of the balloon basket and try not to lean over the sides. If the balloon starts to sway because of the wind, then the middle is the safest place to be. You don’t want an upheaval tossing you or any object you are holding over the side. Balloon rides aren’t dangerous, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have some caution.
Finally, don’t touch the controls for the fire or the ropes controlling the balloon. Not only can the flames near the top of the balloon be extremely hot, but they are also what is keeping you aloft. Unless you are a trained balloon operator, then you need to let the real operator do his job.
Other than that, have fun and take your time enjoying looking down at the city below. Going up in a balloon is a pretty sight, and certainly an unforgettable experience for everyone involved in the trip.View More Riding in a Hot Air Balloon, Things to Know
